Past Events - 2009 - Dragon Boating

It was a keen and eager crew of parents, staff and associated comrades that gathered at 9am on Saturday morning for the Shellharbour Festival of Sport Dragon Boat Challenge.
From our school we had, Holly Swan, Joanne Blanch, Nadine Malys, Diane Davies, Michael and Tony Hodgins with Simon and Melissa Leslie. They were support by Leanne Petersen, Karen and Michael Geary, Ros Gaynor, Darren Cherubini and his son, David Burke, Mary Tweed and Brad Elliott.
We had a quick training session, hit the water and were ready to paddle. Our first race came upon us and low and behold...we won!
Now nothings gets adults more competitive than a little bit of success. Throughout our next heats, paddlers eagerly ran to the recording table to see our times being posted. We had people counting down the hundredths of seconds and beaming with delight.
When news arrived that we had made the major finals the tension was on.
We raced hard, our arms paddled and the water boiled. With just a half metre between us, we came a very proud second.
My congratulations to all of our paddlers and our small but enthusiastic cheer squad. I hope we see you all again next year.

Have a look at the professionalism of this crew!!
