NATIONAL SCHOOL CHAPLAINCY AND STUDENT WELFARE PROGRAM SURVEY

The Association conducted a comprehensive survey in November 2011 over the entire school community to determine the wishes of the community in relation to whether the school should participate in the NSCSWP and, if so, what type of appointment should be made.

Attached is a copy of the Information to Parents and the survey questionnaire.

Both were delivered to the 220 (approx) families with children at the school on  2 November 2011 and due back by 14 November 2011.

The results were delivered by the Associations secretary to a meeting of members on 30 November 2011.

The Secretary informed the meeting that there had been a substantial response to the survey that had been distributed to all parents and carers. It was sent to 220 families which potentially allowed for 440 responses.

A total of 154 responses had been received. Of these 145 had been received in time with an additional 9 surveys coming in after the due date. The latter did not change the overall position and were allowed in as part of the calculations.

The results of the survey were:-

Q1.         Are you in favour of the school applying for funding for the National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program in 2012?
Answer:               Yes 127 / No 26 / Abstain 1
Total 154

Q2.         If the school submits an application for funding to the National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program should this be to engage a school chaplain or secular student welfare officer?
Answer:               Chaplain 47 / secular student welfare officer 101 / either 6
                                Total 154

On the basis of the answer to Q2 it was not necessary to collate and tabulate the answer to Q3 but it was noted that of those requesting a chaplain the majority were in favour of an Anglican chaplain.

PC Holmes
Secretary.

Thanks!

70s GLAM NIGHT "THANK YOUS" & AMOUNT RAISED

Amount raised was $3,792.00 - An excellent night, and a tidy sum to the school... a fabulous result!

I promised to thank those that put in time and effort for our latest fundraiser, and while it's ultimately the force of many that creates these events, there are always a few outstanding people who must get a mention.
· Margaret King - Kept us liquored up with her usual well run bar and wonderful TAFE students, plus she was instrumental in the lead up, AND was a star performer on the night... almost a one woman show!!! Great work Margaret, you have an abundance of talent and skills!
· Sarah Seddon - the hall looked amazing, and working alongside Petra Delaney (who also did a fantastic job on the artwork), Imogen Ross, and Lila Sydnenham (flowers), we really were taken back to a 70's Glam Rock night club!
· Sheralee Rae - what can I say... we all know she's a woman of many talents, loads of fun, and is a fabulous wingwoman for events such as this!
· Robyn Enthaler - a wonderfully unflappable caterer, who graciously goes about her job without much help from anyone!!
· Thomas Denman - backdrop fixer upper and electrical brain - helped us make right things that normally take hours, and usually end up going wrong on the night (thanks to Michelle also)
· Miriam Waldron - raffle prize collector and ticket seller extraordinaire!
· PLUS - set up and clean up was attended to by the wonderful Kathryn & Robert Bailey, Lorraine & Peter Holmes, along with many of the names you see here... thank you all!
· The Musicians - the event would be very quiet without them!!! I am constantly amazed at the level of talent we have in our school, and it just keeps on coming! We were also lucky enough to be graced with the amazing vocal presence of Lo Roberts (of Porcelain fame) - big THANKS goes out to her for giving time to our school, along with a huge THANK YOU to guitarist/singer Russell Fletcher (Margaret King's brother), all the way from the South Coast, and an especially BIG THANK YOU goes to the gorgeous "Sea # Singers", headed up by our favourite ex-school mum, Sharon Claydon... their beautiful voices and wonderful attitude in supporting our event and school is greatly appreciated. Please keep an eye out for their local performances and support them in return.
Our amazingly talented parent performers are: Margaret King, Justin Healey, Harry Denison-Pender, Kirk Seddon, Martin McCall, Tony McAuslan Rhiannon Morgan, Peter Wright, Matt Dickson, Jeff Bennett, Scott McRae, Jeremy Edwards and Christian Power.

And once again, BEVANS THIROUL, were wonderful in donating the printing of colour flyers and tickets for the event, and also we thank the lovely Jenna for giving her time to take photos on the night

Please forgive me if I've left off any important names... I'll give you a big hug when I see you!
Thanks again to everyone - Jodie Pryor - 0422 87 87 47

Thanks to all who attended the AGM on 7 December last.
For those who didn’t make it the members present elected the following persons unopposed to the executive committee for 2012:
  • President – Sheralee Rae
  • Vice President – Tanya Allen
  • Vice President – Miriam Waldron
  • Secretary - Peter Holmes
  • Treasurer- Elaine Byrne.
There are 6 non executive positions available which remain casually vacant. Hopefully some of them can be filled next year.

The sub committees will be reconstituted at the first meeting in February next year (date to be advised) and there is always room on them to help out.
The Association raised over $40,000.00 last year and completed the object of fitting all class rooms with electronic whiteboards so it was a very successful year.

Membership fees for next year remain unchanged at 50 cents.

Membership expires 31 December 2011 and renewals are due now. Current members have up until the first meeting in February next year to pay the subscription and thereby stay financial and able to vote at meetings.

Members not financial before or at the first meeting can of course rejoin at any time after that by paying the 50 cent membership fee. They and new members joining for the first time will not be able to vote at the first meeting after that.
On behalf of the executive committee thanks to all who helped this year, be it in a large or small capacity.

We hope you all enjoy a great Christmas and best wishes for 2012.

Peter Holmes - Secretary
